Error Handling
Configure how AnyFileBackup responds to errors — notification delivery and the default retry and recovery behaviour for all tasks.
Error Notification and Delivery
An error is any misbehaviour during task execution — for example, a failure to copy a file because a Target folder was inaccessible, insufficient disk space, a failed FTP connection, or a failure to restart or hibernate the computer after backup completion.
- Send e-mails about errors
-
Controls when and how error notifications are sent:
- Never — error notifications are not sent.
- In a single message — all errors from one task run are aggregated into a single e-mail sent at the end of the task scenario. Note that significant time may pass between an error and the notification if the task is transferring large files.
- In separate messages — each error triggers an immediate e-mail. This is the fastest method but may generate many messages per run; ensure your mailbox has sufficient space and that your mail server does not treat them as spam.
- Sender account
- Select a pre-configured outgoing e-mail account from the drop-down list. Press Configure to open the Outgoing E-mail Accounts manager and create or edit accounts.
- Recipient list
- Select a pre-configured recipient list from the drop-down list. Press Configure to open the Recipient List manager and create or edit lists.
Default Error Handling Rules
These settings apply to all tasks that do not have their own task-specific error handling rules configured. They can be overridden per task in the task's General settings.
- Action on error
-
Defines what AnyFileBackup does after all retry attempts are exhausted:
- Deactivate the task until AnyFileBackup restarts — the task is deactivated and will not run again until the Task Processor restarts (or the task is activated manually).
- Stop the task execution until the task's next scheduled start — the current run stops and the task waits for its next scheduled start.
- Ignore the error and continue the task execution — the task continues as though no error occurred. If error notifications are configured, they are still sent.
- Retry task on error count
- The number of times AnyFileBackup will retry the failing action or step before applying the Action on error rule above. If the last retry also fails, the error action is applied.
- Task retry interval, min
- The interval in minutes between retry attempts. The task pauses and waits for this interval before each retry.
